3 actors, run time approx 15 mins.

About the Resource

A fast-paced, highly stylised and physical piece of theatre, Brotherly Love retells a traditional fairy tale.

After an argument with their father, Hansel leads complacent Gretel into the dark alleys of the city, where they ‘happen’ upon a hovel. This is Hansel’s dealer’s house - only he's not selling candy.

To pay off Hansel’s debts, Gretel becomes a skivvy. This she agrees to, as she believes she can redeem Hansel. This tale does not end happily.

Brotherly Love requires three actors: Gretel, Hansel and a narrator/father/dealer. It lasts for 15 minutes, making this a superb GCSE piece for a talented group.

Written in constrained, rhyming verse, Brotherly Love is a challenging piece, requiring excellent timing.

It requires no set or props.
