This scheme can be taught using the masks available

from this site (see foot of page) but they are not essential.

See our fantastic mask and scheme bundle here.

About the Resource

This scheme is based on Rudyard Kipling's Just So stories. It uses masks to help students create their own Just So-type dramas.

The scheme includes:

  • Entire scheme of work (6 lessons - flexible)
  • Planning sheets for students
  • A fun PowerPoint with sound
  • Links to Just So stories and MP3 readings

This is a really fun scheme which encourages students, through the use of masks, to act with physicality and exaggerated character. After listening to a Just So story students are asked to devise their own story for an animal of their choice from the masks available - to explain How the Thingy Got its Wotsit! A super way of exploring fables which could lead into work on, for example, Dream Time and other creation stories.

There are no masks included in this resource. Click here to order masks and for details of our instructional DVD. Remember - masks can be used for our other Mask Schemes - see bottom of page.

About the Author

Clive Hulme is the owner of this site. He likes the opportunities that mask work gives to students. It is no coincidence that a mask forms part of the r4d logo. Some people have suggested that Clive himself should wear a mask more often.
