About the Author

Steve Morley was born in Bradford in Yorkshire. He had a number of different jobs before becoming a trainee teacher. He reluctantly abandoned teaching to become a champion chicken slaughterer for which he was given the nickname Claudius, because ‘he murdered most foul’. After a short spell in uniform with Bradford City Transport, he left for the bright smoke of London to pursue a career as an actor, a profession that has intermittently entertained him for more than thirty years. For over a decade he was Sergeant Lamont in TV’s ever-popular The Bill (for which he also worked as a script writer); this was a part he was eternally grateful for as he appeared so infrequently no-one ever recognised him. But forget the world tours of great Shakespearean roles, forget the trip to Hollywood, forget even being the vet in Emmerdale, Steve still regards his greatest claim to fame as winning an award for being the first man to appear nude on Irish radio.

Steve is currently Director of Drama at The City of London School for Girls (which allows him to brag to his show-biz friends that he’s working at the Barbican!)

In 2006 he was nominated for the award of Teacher of the Year.

In 2010 he was nominated for the Company of Educators,'Inspirational Educators' (Secondary Section) Award.
