About the Resource

This exciting and enjoyable scheme explores the play ‘Our Day Out’ by Willy Russell. It offers KS3 pupils (Year 8) the opportunity to study the complex lives of the characters and the historical background, as well as developing an extensive understanding of a range of drama techniques that are embedded into the scheme. Pupils will get the chance to play characters very different to themselves, and offers opportunities for the development of vocal skills and accents (Liverpudlian). My pupils have thoroughly enjoyed this scheme since 2008, and I am sure your pupils will too.

There are over 70 pages in this very detailed resource.

About the Author

I trained at the University of Warwick in 2008 and worked in the Midlands at a specialist Arts College until September 2012, when I was appointed as Head of Drama at a secondary school in Derbyshire. As a Drama team, we place an emphasis on Drama, as crucial for social and emotional development – but most importantly, enjoyment! Our dedicated Drama department teaches Drama in years 7, 8 and 9, with every pupil experiencing one hour per week of discrete Drama lessons. We also offer GCSE Drama to KS4 students. I hope you enjoy teaching these schemes as much as I have with my students.
