About the Resource

Not sure how to effectively assess in drama? This resource contains full, detailed, assessment criteria that are easy to follow. There are pictures included that show how to display the criteria most effectively for the pupils. The assessment criteria are written in ‘pupil language’ and make assessment for learning an easy and integral part of the lesson. The criteria can be colour coded and linked to key words, drama strategies and lesson plans. Since writing these level descriptors we have seen a real improvement in pupils' understanding of how to achieve in drama and a real understanding of how each piece of work is levelled. For an example of the descriptors, click here.

About the Authors - Adele Waites / Elena Kkama

Adele Waites and Elena Kkama have worked together at Kings Heath Boys' Mathematics and Computing College in Birmingham since 2007. Adele joined the department as a PGCE student in 2007 and as an NQT in 2008 and is now the Head of Department. Elena Kkama was the Head of Faculty of Creative Arts and P.E at the school and has been teaching since 2003, she is now Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning. The school did not have a Drama Department before the arrival of Ms Kkama who created a dynamic department that has been described by OFSTED as the ‘main strength of the school.’
